This talking book project is presented on a "listen-only basis" to help spread the word about "Berto's World", a wonderful new book by Dr. R. A. Comunale, a McLean, Virgina-based author and practicing physician.
In Berto's World, he invites you to "traverse the memories of life growing up in the tenement neighborhood of Roberto Galen", the gifted son of immigrant parents who grew up to become a medical doctor.
Among the remarkable people in Berto's World are Galen's mentor, Dr. Corrado Agnelli who, along with a "dead lady", set Berto on his life's path. You will also meet the Mad Russian who always carried a meat cleaver when he got a shave from Thomas, the Barber, Joe "the Junkman" Giuseppe who roamed a neighborhood that was too poor to throw anything away; the Old Guys, veterans of The Great War, who never tired of sharing their stories with neighborhood kids; the Candy Lady who was anything but sweet, and the little, old Jewish dentist who defeated the Nazis, only to fall victim to Cupid's arrow from a completely different direction.
You will also meet Sal, Tomas and Angie, Berto's pals, with whom he confronts many of life's greatest mysteries, and many more wonderful characters - the unforgettable denizens who make up Berto's World.
R.A. Comunale is not only a novelist, he is also a specialist in aviation medicine, and a semi-retired physician in family practice who lives and works out of his home/office in McLean, Virginia.
Doctor Comunale enjoys writing, gardening, electronics, pounding on a piano, and yelling at his dimwitted cat. He describes himself as an eccentric and iconoclast. His patients agree.
The cat is seeking legal counsel.
